Why Empathy Is Strength

EMPATHY IS STRENGTH. It is one of the simplest things LivEƎvi⅃ says, and one of the ideas that matters most to us.

Empathy gets mistaken for softness. We see it differently. It takes very little effort to judge somebody from a distance. It takes more courage to look twice, listen, and admit that the first label might have been wrong.

Look past the label

LivEƎvi⅃ uses monsters because monsters are almost always judged before they speak. Horns, tentacles, darkness, strange symbols. The conclusion arrives before the story does.

That makes Baph and Lu perfect for our world. Baphomet and Cthulhu may look like the villains, but here they bring flowers, drink tea, read, skate, fly kites, and take care of strange little things. The contrast is funny, but it also makes a point.

Strength without cruelty

You can be strong without becoming hard. You can question the world without treating everyone in it like an enemy. You can defend your individuality while making room for somebody else's.

That is the kind of rebellion LivEƎvi⅃ is interested in. Not rebellion for its own sake, but the courage to think for yourself and the compassion to let other people do the same. That idea sits at the centre of what LivEƎvi⅃ stands for.

Give the monster flowers

Dark art does not have to celebrate cruelty. Sometimes darkness gives us a better way to talk about compassion. Put flowers in Cthulhu's hands. Let Baphomet take a tea break. Take the thing people were told to fear and give it humanity.

Look twice. Judge less. Empathy is strength.
